TheDrinkingSociety brought George, Ramu and me to Furama Hotel near Robinson Quay. Wala-Wala's Hive has a bistro and bar there, partly open air partly enclosed, that served a free flow of Peng Wine for this evening. I didn't really know the wine before, but I am a fan of South American wines, and Peng is from Chile. It is much appreciated, when such an event then has the specialist present; so we heard about the history of the wine, the fact that it is called Peng because all wines have their names from penguins the various types, and - to my surprise - that you can mix the red and white wine. The red wine was easy to drink, not exactly representing the round heaviness for which i love the South American wines, but the white wine was not my thing at all; it had nearly something chemical-rubberish in its taste. Not to speak of the mix, it felt like the disadvantages of both combining. Nevertheless, I continued with my red wine and found some enlightenment in the talk. The food was pretty good: we got ourselves some beef sliders and a pork loin. Slightly on the pricy side, but the loin was juicy, fresh tasty, and the sliders were so too, good bites, complimenting the red wine. Hive is one of the places that has even on a weekday evening live music. As musicians (all 3 of us), this definitely lifts our hearts. Firstly, we value any place that regards music high as entertainment and invests money in musicians. It respects music as profession and adds meaning to us teaching music. Secondly, the singer was actually really good. Thus, it was an enjoyable evening, not the highlight of our outings, but time well spent. Btw, careful, headache wine!
